Former Senate president Senator David Mark
has extended an olive branch to his
counterpart at the All Progressives Congress
(APC), David Onjeh after defeating the latter
in yesterday’s south senatorial district rerun
election in Benue state.
David Mark wants David Onjeh to work with
him to move Idomaland forward.
According to The Nation, David Mark has
asked Onjeh to join him in moving Idomaland
forward in spite of his loss at the polls.
Mr Mark won with a margin of 12, 571,
polling 84, 192 votes as Onjeh of the APC
polled 71, 621 votes.
Mark won in five local government areas
while Onjeh won in four as declared by
Professor Ishaku Enigi.
He said: “I want to thank all sons and
daughters of Idomaland because this victory
is for us, not for David Mark. I also want to
urged those whose political interest might
have clashed with mine to join hands with me
in moving Idomaland forward.
“I want to thank the people of zone c for
their support and promised that I will not
disappoint them.”
Meanwhile, deputy Senate president Ike
Ekweremadu has also reacted to Mark’s
victory at the polls, stating with assurance
that if the election were to be conducted a
million times, his former president would win
as many times as possible.
“I congratulate Senator Mark and our loyal
party men and women on this well-deserved
victory, which reaffirms his previous victory in
April 2015.
“We have always been confident that even if
the election should be conducted a million
times, PDP and Senator Mark would still win
as many times,” a statement issued today,
February 21, by Uche Anichukwu,
Ekweremadu’s special adviser on media and
publicity read.
